  • Germany’s defense minister said   officials have to assume damage to two data cables under the Baltic Sea, one of which ends in Germany, was caused by sabotage — though he said they have no proof at present.
  • Damage was detected Monday to the C-Lion1 cable that runs nearly 1,200 kilometers (750 miles) from Finland’s capital, Helsinki, to the German port city of Rostock. Another cable between Lithuania and Sweden was also damaged.
  • “No one believes these cables were severed by mistake, and I also don’t want to believe versions that it was anchors that by chance caused damage to these cables,” he said at a regular meeting of European Union defense ministers.
  • “So we have to state — without knowing in concrete terms who it came from — that this is a hybrid action. And we also have to assume — without already knowing it, obviously — that this is sabotage.”

  • According to The Times, the hacker, dubbed “Altam Beezley,” obtained a tranche of documents including 24 exhibits and sworn statements from a woman who testified she had sex with Matt Gaetz when she was 17 years old.
  • Gaetz has denied the allegations and the Justice Department declined to bring charges after investigating the matter.
  • The House Ethics Committee was going to release a “damaging” report on Matt Gaetz last Friday but because he resigned from Congress, the committee lost jurisdiction.
  • However, the Deep State has been selectively leaking parts of the report to the media and now a ‘hacker’ has obtained a trove of documents from the ‘damaging’ report.

  • Could President-elect Donald Trump use the military within the U.S. to suppress protests on college campuses, patrol the southern border, and conduct mass deportations? By invoking the Insurrection Act — a little-known law that grants the president sweeping authority to deploy the military on American soil — he plans to do just that.
  • We need to take steps now to ensure that the law does not become Trump’s most dangerous weapon.
  • The Posse Comitatus Act generally makes it a crime for the military to engage in domestic law enforcement. But the Insurrection Act provides a crucial exception to this rule, giving the president seemingly broad authority to deploy military forces on American soil. Historically, it has been invoked sparingly and responsibly — only 30 times in the 230 years since its inception. Most famously, the act enabled Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F.
